The GCC states and migrant workers: development, security and AI

Summary: the GCC states have been heavily dependent on migrant labour for their development. Their initial preference for Arab workers has been replaced by a predilection for non-Arabs. In the future, artificial intelligence and robotics could reduce the Gulf states’ dependence on workers from abroad.
