With last week’s announcement  that the Saudi Tourism Authority had signed a memorandum of understanding with Alibaba Cloud, Mohammed bin Salman’s dream, espoused in Vision 2030, of turning the kingdom into a global tourism power moved a step closer to reality.

  1. It is a decade since I travelled regularly to the Arabian Peninsula. In my experience Saudi hotels and Saudia were incomparably the worst airline and hospitality offering for business travellers in the region. Has this changed? If not, how is the great new project going to produce a better outcome?
