    1. White House sources, speaking off-the-record, have stated that Donald Trump did green-light the bombing of South Pars.

    2. On support for the war the US opinion poll headlines, criticism by the likes of Tucker Carlson and even Joe Kent’s resignation (not to mention Tulsi Gabbard’s cautious testimony to Congress on Wednesday) are not indicative of where the MAGA base is just now. Drilling down into polling shows over 80 percent of self-identified MAGA types as supportive still – for which Donald Trump can certainly thank hyper-active loyalists like the Islamophobic Laura Loomer. The cracks are certainly there and would, equally certainly, widen quickly if the US takes significant casualties and/or the price of gasoline (and diesel, now at $5/gallon and impacting on the cost of delivery of just about everything) rises further.. But for now at least Mr Trump still has a solid majority of the base with him over the war even if more moderate Republicans and independents are peeling away in numbers.
