1 thought on “Morocco: an unusual boycott”

  1. Morocco’s claim that Iran and Hizbullah are training Polisario fights is very far fetched and most likely simply the result of Saudi and Emirati pressure. Algeria has, over the years been very careful not to involve actors from outside the region in military matters related to the Polisario. A few years ago, Morocco claimed the Saharawi refugee camps near Tinduf, in south western Algeria were “breeding grounds” for al Qaeda, which was nonsense. It is not by constantly upping the ante that Morocco can hope to change Algeria’s position on the final status of the Western Sahara. If the Moroccan foreign ministry has proof of what they allege about Hizbullah and Iran, they could do worse than make it public!
