A Mandate for Exploitation: the UN’s Colonial “Board of Peace” and the Subjugation of Gaza

Ref: AD-2894

Summary: the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution placing Gaza under the control of a US-led “Board of Peace” and authorising an American-commanded international force. This neo-colonial act violates international law, extinguishes Palestinian sovereignty, and rewards genocide.

Today’s Arab Digest article offers a precise reading of the new colonial architecture emerging from the UN Security Council’s resolution. In my own piece, published on 18 November 2025 in Al-Arab London under the title ‘Gaza: The Berlin of the Twenty-First Century’ [available in Arabic at this link], I attempted to move beneath the resolution itself—toward the layer where the spatial engineering of Gaza and the reconfiguration of geography become tools for reshaping identity.
The two perspectives may appear distinct, but they are in fact two sides of the same equation: Arab Digest dissected the structure of domination from above, while I sought to examine how that very structure is translated into lines, maps, and a psycho-political system that reproduces the Palestinian in its own image. This is not similarity; it is mirroring. They captured the engineer’s hand, while I tried to capture the imprint of his tools on the ground.
As I wrote in my article:
‘The Yellow Line is not a military barrier, but the founding moment of a future system of separation—a platform that divides one people into two narratives: a northern Gaza abandoned to ruin, and a southern Gaza reshaped under conditions of control. It is a wall not yet built, yet already functioning as a political memory through which the Palestinian is rewritten before his borders are redrawn.’

Here the analyses converge without overlapping. Arab Digest described the formation of the hand that seeks to redraw the region, while I described the shadow that hand casts upon Gaza’s geography and identity.

  2. “the abstentions by permanent members Russia and China signal deep reservations about a plan that hands complete control to a US-chaired body without a clear UN role”. Perhaps, or possibly the US’s two state opponents are content for the US to measure the rope by which to hang itself. The Trump 20 Point Plan is long on vision, and short on detail, as even they privately admit. It will also take more focus and attention than Trump is reported to have.

When the wheels fall off the Trump 20 Point Plan, Trump’s name will be all over the failure. Russia and PRC are likely to point out that they tried to warn the UN, indeed, even offered their own proposal, but …
